Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: In a major boost to floriculture, agriculture innovation, and local employment, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the state’s first ‘Center of Excellence for Flowers’ in Ayodhya. The upcoming facility will be established at Pirkhauli village on 3 hectares of land with an estimated investment of ₹2 crore.
The project will be developed within the Horticulture Department nursery and is expected to become a key hub for modern flower cultivation, farmer training, flower processing, and supply chain development.
Ayodhya Flower Excellence Center to Support Modern Floriculture
According to Deputy Director of Horticulture Anoop Kumar Chaturvedi, the center will play an important role in promoting scientific flower farming techniques and improving productivity among flower growers.
Farmers will receive training on:
- Advanced flower varieties and cultivation methods
- Scientific farming techniques
- Pest management
- Modern irrigation systems
- Marketing and commercialization strategies
The center will also cultivate rare and premium flower varieties, including:
- Dutch Roses
- High-quality Marigold varieties
- Other commercially valuable flowers
Continuous Flower Supply for Ram Temple in Ayodhya
One of the major objectives of the Center of Excellence for Flowers in Ayodhya is to ensure a steady supply of quality flowers to Shri Ram Temple, where large quantities of flowers are required daily for religious rituals and worship.
The project is expected to strengthen local flower production, reducing dependence on external suppliers while supporting the regional economy.
Similar Flower Centers Planned in Mathura and Varanasi
Officials stated that similar flower excellence centers will also be established in Mathura and Varanasi, creating a broader flower production network across Uttar Pradesh.
These centers are expected to enhance the state’s position in:
- Commercial flower farming
- Flower processing industries
- Export-oriented floriculture
- Dry flower production
Employment Opportunities for Youth and Women
The new facility is expected to generate hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly for local youth and women.
