India registered a 17-run victory over the Netherlands in their T20 World Cup 2026 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this win, Team India completed a clean sweep in the group stage and advanced to the Super 8 unbeaten.
Shivam Dube delivered a match-winning all-round performance, scoring 66 runs with the bat and picking up two crucial wickets with the ball to guide India to victory.
India Post 193/6 After Early Setbacks
After winning the toss, captain Suryakumar Yadav opted to bat first. India suffered an early blow as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck in the opening over. Ishan Kishan followed soon after, scoring 18 runs before heading back to the pavilion.
At 69/3, India were under pressure with a slow run rate. Shivam Dube then shifted the momentum with aggressive stroke play. The left-hander smashed 66 runs off just 31 deliveries, including four boundaries and six towering sixes.
Suryakumar Yadav contributed 34 off 28 balls, while Tilak Varma added 31 runs. Hardik Pandya chipped in with a valuable 30, helping India reach 193/6 in 20 overs. For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek was the standout bowler with three wickets.
Netherlands Fall Short Despite Fightback
Chasing a target of 194, the Dutch side tried to stay in contention but managed only 176/7 in their 20 overs.
Varun Chakravarthy led India’s bowling attack with an impressive spell of 3 wickets for just 14 runs in three overs. Shivam Dube continued his impact by claiming two wickets after his explosive batting display. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya picked up one wicket each.
Bas de Leede top-scored for the Netherlands with 33 runs, but it was not enough to prevent India from sealing a comfortable 17-run win.
