winter

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that all schools up to Class 12 remain closed till January 1 in view of the severe cold wave affecting the state. The order applies to all boards, including CBSE, ICSE, and the UP Board.

With temperatures continuing to fall, the Chief Minister has placed district administrations on high alert and instructed officials to stay actively engaged at the ground level to monitor arrangements and ensure public safety.

Focus on Public Safety During Cold Wave

CM Yogi emphasized that officials must continuously tour their respective areas and closely supervise relief measures. He directed that adequate arrangements of bonfires and blankets be made at public places across all districts.

The Chief Minister clearly stated that no person should be forced to sleep in the open during extreme cold conditions. To ensure this, all night shelters (rain baseras) must be fully functional and equipped with essential facilities.

Special Instructions for Night Shelters

The state government has been instructed to ensure that all night shelters provide:

  • Warm bedding and sufficient blankets
  • Clean drinking water
  • Proper sanitation facilities
  • Adequate lighting
  • Regular inspections to prevent negligence

CM Yogi also asked officials to pay special attention to vulnerable groups, including elderly people, children, and the homeless, to prevent any loss of life due to cold-related conditions.

Zero Tolerance for Negligence

The Chief Minister warned that any lapse in arrangements will invite strict action. Officials have been directed to ensure that relief materials and shelter are made available to the needy on time.

With these measures, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to minimize the impact of the cold wave and ensure the safety and well-being of residents during harsh winter conditions.
