Yogi

The Basic Education Department of Uttar Pradesh has released ₹36 crore for providing free school uniforms to students studying in Classes 1 to 8 across the state.

The funds will benefit students enrolled in government-run council primary and upper primary schools, government-aided primary, upper primary and secondary schools, as well as aided madrasas operating in Uttar Pradesh.

Importantly, eligible students above the poverty line have also been included under this scheme.

Money to Be Transferred Directly to Parents’ Bank Accounts

The financial assistance will be transferred directly into the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of students’ parents or guardians through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Students studying in privately managed but government-aided institutions under the Social Welfare Department will also receive the benefit.

Although the funds have been released in the final phase of the current academic session, the move is being seen as preparation for the upcoming academic year.

This initiative is part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s continued efforts to support school education and ease the financial burden on families.
