The construction of a regional-level B-Grade Forensic Science Laboratory in Ayodhya, being built at a cost of ₹47 crore, has reached its final stage, with 91 percent of the work completed. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to significantly strengthen criminal investigations and speed up the justice delivery system.

Located near Bagh Bijesi, the five-storey forensic lab is being developed over an area of 10,266 square metres. The project is being executed under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) mode and will be equipped with modern scientific infrastructure.

Faster Justice, No More Delays in Sample Testing

Currently, forensic samples from Ayodhya and nearby districts are sent to laboratories in Lucknow, Agra, or other distant cities, resulting in delays, higher costs, and logistical challenges. Once the Ayodhya forensic lab becomes operational, this dependency will end.

Local testing of samples will reduce turnaround time, minimize expenses, and ensure that investigations move faster, ultimately making the justice process more effective and efficient.

Major Technical Support for Police and Law Enforcement

The new forensic science laboratory will provide strong technical backing to the police in crime control, drug trafficking cases, and the ongoing anti-narcotics drive. The facility will be equipped with advanced sections for:

  • DNA testing
  • Ballistic examination
  • Chemical analysis
  • Cyber forensics
  • Other modern forensic technologies

These scientific tools will help investigators collect and analyze evidence more accurately, leading to stronger cases against criminals, quicker arrests, and better conviction rates.

Officials say the lab will also ensure relief for the innocent and timely punishment for the guilty, improving both the quality and credibility of investigations.

According to Umesh Chandra, Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department (Construction Division-2), 91 percent of the construction work has already been completed, and the remaining work is progressing at a steady pace.
