Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has publicly acknowledged that India carried out a precision strike on the Nur Khan Airbase under Operation Sindoor. He revealed that India launched nearly 80 drones within a span of 36 hours, one of which caused damage to a military facility and injured personnel. The operation was conducted in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were killed.
Following Dar’s admission about the impact of India’s targeted strikes during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan once again appeared to be in a defensive position. Ishaq Dar Confirms Strike on Nur Khan Airbase
Addressing the media during his final press briefing of the year on Saturday, Ishaq Dar confirmed that India had targeted the Nur Khan Airbase located in the Chaklala area of Rawalpindi. He admitted that the strike caused damage to a military installation and left several personnel injured.
According to news agency ANI, Dar stated that India deployed a large number of drones in a short period, highlighting the scale of the operation.
“India sent drones into Pakistani territory. At least 80 drones were launched in 36 hours. We successfully intercepted 79 of them, but one drone managed to hit a military facility, causing damage and injuring personnel,” Dar said.
Emergency Meeting After Drone Attacks
The Pakistani foreign minister further explained that following the attacks, an emergency meeting was convened on the night of May 9, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, involving both civilian and military leadership to assess the rapidly evolving situation.
‘India Made a Mistake’ – Dar
Dar went on to claim that India committed an error by striking the Nur Khan Airbase on the morning of May 10, a statement that further reinforced Pakistan’s acknowledgment of the attack and its consequences.
Operation Sindoor Launched After Pahalgam Terror Attack
Dar’s remarks represent one of the rare instances where a senior Pakistani official has openly admitted the impact of Indian military action on Pakistani airbases.
Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to target nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation was carried out in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
