Lord Hanuman

The “Shri Hanuman Chalisa” video has officially crossed 5 billion views on YouTube, creating history as the most-watched Indian video on the platform. In doing so, it has surpassed countless Bollywood music videos and secured the No. 1 spot among India’s most viewed content.

Released on May 10, 2011, the devotional video features the late Gulshan Kumar and continues to be one of the most loved bhajans even after 14 years. Sung by Hariharan with music composed by Lalit Sen, the video remains unmatched in popularity and audience devotion.

Second Place Isn’t Even Close

While Hanuman Chalisa has crossed a massive 5 billion views, the second most-watched Indian video hasn’t even crossed the 2 billion mark. Surprisingly, the No. 2 position does not belong to a Bollywood song, but to a Punjabi track.

Which Video is No. 2 in India?

The second-most viewed Indian video on YouTube is the Punjabi hit “Lehanga”, with 1.8 billion views.

Following it are:

  • “52 Gaj Ka Daman” (Haryanvi) – 1.7 billion views
  • “Rowdy Baby” (Tamil) – 1.7 billion views

Other popular Indian videos that rank in the top list include:
“Jazbaati Hai”, “Vaaste”, “Long Lachi”, “Lut Gaye”, “Dilbar”, and “Bum Bum Bole”.

Most Viewed YouTube Videos Globally

On the global chart, here are the world’s most-watched YouTube videos:

  1. Baby Shark Dance – 16.38 billion views
  2. Despacito – 8.85 billion views
  3. Wheels on the Bus – 8.16 billion views
  4. Bath Song – 7.28 billion views
  5. Johny Johny Yes Papa – 7.12 billion views

With 5 billion+ views, Shri Hanuman Chalisa has now joined this elite list of global mega-hits.

Not Its First Record

This is not the first time the video has created history. In 2023, it became the first Indian video to cross 3 billion views.

Bhushan Kumar Expresses Gratitude

T-Series Managing Director Bhushan Kumar, son of the late Gulshan Kumar, shared his joy on the milestone:

“Hanuman Chalisa holds a special place in the hearts of millions, including mine. My father, Shri Gulshan Kumar ji, dedicated his life to bringing spiritual music into every household. Crossing 5 billion views and becoming part of YouTube’s Top 10 most-watched videos is not just a digital achievement—it reflects the unwavering devotion of people across the country.”

This Version Beats All Other Hanuman Chalisa Videos

There are several versions of Hanuman Chalisa on YouTube, but the T-Series version featuring Gulshan Kumar is the most popular by far. Directed by Shambhu Gopal, it dominates both in views and global cultural impact.

Good discussion here. Many people miss this, but context makes a big difference. Interested in how others handle this.
