The trend of films running longer than three hours is making a strong comeback in Hindi cinema. After Animal, Pushpa 2, and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming war drama Border 2 has now joined the list of epic-length movies.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for Border 2, which is based on the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The film is inspired by the historic Battle of Longewala and showcases the bravery of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. While the teaser and the emotional theme song “Ghar Kab Aaoge” have already created buzz, audiences are now keenly awaiting the trailer. Meanwhile, the film’s runtime details have been revealed.
Border 2 Runtime: Nearly 3 Hours 20 Minutes
There was a time in Bollywood when films regularly exceeded three hours. Over the years, runtimes were trimmed to around two to two-and-a-half hours. However, recent blockbusters like Animal, Pushpa 2, and Dhurandhar have brought back the era of long-format storytelling. Now, Border 2 has officially entered this category.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Border 2 has a runtime of 200 minutes, which translates to approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes. However, the final duration may change slightly after the film goes through the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Why the Makers Are Not Cutting the Film’s Length
The makers believe that the extended runtime is essential to do justice to the scale and depth of the story. Since Border 2 is a large-scale war film with four major lead actors—Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahaan Panday—the filmmakers want each character arc to be properly explored.
They are confident that every dialogue, scene, and song has been carefully crafted to keep audiences fully engaged throughout the film, ensuring that viewers remain glued to their seats in theatres.
Border 2 Release Date
Border 2 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 23, 2026, just three days ahead of Republic Day. Interestingly, several fans from Pakistan have also expressed a desire to see the film released in the neighboring country.
