Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has taken responsibility for the medical treatment of an auto-rickshaw driver who was injured in a road accident involving his security convoy in Mumbai. The incident occurred on the night of January 19 in the Juhu area, while the actor was returning home from the airport.
According to reports, a Mercedes car being driven at high speed rammed into an auto-rickshaw from behind. The impact caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle, which then collided with one of Akshay Kumar’s security cars. The auto driver sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said that Akshay Kumar personally stepped out of his vehicle and helped ensure that the injured driver was taken to the hospital without delay. Beyond this immediate assistance, the actor’s team has remained in continuous contact with the driver’s family and is fully bearing the cost of his medical treatment.
Injured Driver Undergoing Surgery
The injured auto-rickshaw driver has been identified as 22-year-old Washid Khan. Speaking to the media, his brother revealed that Washid suffered a fractured jaw in the accident and is currently undergoing surgery.
“He had gone to Juhu to drop off a passenger when a speeding luxury car hit his auto from behind, completely damaging the vehicle,” his brother said. He added that local residents initially helped shift Washid to the hospital and doctors later confirmed that surgery was necessary.
The family also confirmed that Akshay Kumar’s team is regularly checking on the driver’s health and providing all necessary medical support.
Mercedes Driver Arrested by Mumbai Police
According to ANI reports, Mumbai Police have arrested the Mercedes car driver involved in the accident. The accused has been identified as Radheshyam Rai and has been booked for rash and negligent driving. Authorities stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Akshay Kumar’s prompt response and humanitarian gesture have been widely appreciated, with many praising the actor for standing by the injured man and his family during a difficult time.
