Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the construction of a 250-bed Level-One Trauma Center near the Agra-Lucknow Expressway to ensure immediate medical treatment for road accident victims. The new trauma center will function under the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences (UPUMS), Saifai, and aims to significantly reduce response time during emergencies.
To provide prompt medical care to people injured in road accidents, a state-of-the-art Level-One Trauma Center with 250 beds will be established along the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed that the center be developed under UPUMS Saifai, located in Etawah district.
On Tuesday, while chairing the meeting of the Board of Governors of the university in his role as Chancellor, the Chief Minister stated that the expressway is located around 10 kilometers away from the university campus, which results in a loss of valuable time in treating accident victims. He emphasized that the university should be developed as a high-level medical, education, and research hub for western and central Uttar Pradesh.
Focus on Rural Healthcare and Digital Services
The Chief Minister also directed the establishment of a Center for Rural Health at the university to strengthen healthcare services in rural areas. This center will offer advanced services such as:
- Tele-OPD (remote outpatient consultation)
- Virtual OPD
- Digital data integration
- Mobile medical outreach services
Several important decisions were also taken regarding the expansion of healthcare services, enhancement of super-specialty facilities, and promotion of medical research.
Emphasis on Quality, Innovation, and Timely Services
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that quality, sensitivity, and timely delivery will be ensured across all areas of treatment, education, and research. He stressed the importance of adopting innovation in the medical sector and instructed officials to study the working models of leading medical and academic institutions across the country and integrate best practices into the university system.
Integrative Medicine and Wellness Initiatives
An Integrative Medicine Unit will also be established at the university. This unit will provide patient-centered treatment by combining modern allopathic medicine with traditional wellness systems. In collaboration with the AYUSH department, the university will set up:
- Integrative OPD services
- Special medical clinics
- Yoga and wellness centers
To increase public awareness and community engagement, a Community Broadcast Service will also be launched at the university.
