Delhi Capitals posted a strong total of 203/4 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) final. Jemimah Rodrigues (57) and Laura Wolvaardt (44) played crucial roles with the bat. However, Bengaluru successfully chased down the target, scoring 204 runs for the loss of six wickets, powered by a brilliant innings from Georgia Wareham (79). With this victory, RCB lifted the WPL title, while Delhi’s wait for a championship continued.
Delhi Capitals Register Highest-Ever WPL Final Score
Led by captain Jemimah Rodrigues, Delhi Capitals produced an impressive batting performance in the WPL final on Thursday, scoring 203 runs for four wickets against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This total is the highest score ever recorded in a WPL final.
Jemimah played a fluent knock of 57 runs off 37 balls, hitting eight boundaries. She was well supported by Laura Wolvaardt, who scored 44 runs off 25 balls, and Chinelle Henry, who remained unbeaten on 35 runs off just 15 balls, smashing four fours and two sixes. Wolvaardt and Henry added a rapid 55 runs in just 24 balls for the fourth wicket, pushing Delhi past the 200-run mark.
Jemimah and Wolvaardt had earlier stitched together a 76-run partnership for the third wicket, steadying the innings after a cautious start.
RCB Bowlers Strike Early, but Delhi Gain Momentum
Royal Challengers Bengaluru began strongly with the ball. Lauren Bell and Sayali Satghare conceded just nine runs in the first three overs, restricting openers Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning. Delhi found momentum in the fourth over, which yielded 20 runs.
Arundhati Reddy dismissed Shafali to bring RCB back into the game, but Wolvaardt counterattacked aggressively. Delhi reached 72/1 in seven overs before Nadine de Klerk ended Wolvaardt’s threatening innings. Delhi eventually finished with 203 runs, setting RCB a target of 204.
RCB Chase Down Target with Authority
Chasing 204, Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered an early setback, losing their first wicket for just 9 runs. However, captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Wareham turned the match around with a sensational partnership.
Wareham played a match-winning knock of 79 runs off 54 balls, including 14 fours, while Mandhana was at her destructive best, scoring 87 runs off 41 balls with 12 fours and three sixes.
Their aggressive batting ensured that RCB reached the target comfortably, winning the final by six wickets.
RCB Win Second WPL Title, Delhi Suffer Fourth Consecutive Final Loss
With this victory, Royal Challengers Bengaluru claimed their second WPL title, having previously won the championship in 2024. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals faced heartbreak once again, suffering their fourth consecutive defeat in a WPL final, as their dream of lifting the trophy remained unfulfilled.
