A major fire broke out at two different locations in Ayodhya’s Sadar Sarki area, resulting in extensive damage. Property worth several lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes. While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, local authorities and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and worked tirelessly to control the flames.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning at Saket Cloth House, located in the Katra locality of Gosainganj. The fire spread rapidly from the front of the shop to the back, covering nearly 120 feet and completely destroying the establishment.

All items inside the shop — including the full stock of clothing, furniture, and other materials — were completely destroyed. Fortunately, the shop owner’s family managed to escape safely from the rear exit.

The flames also spread to two adjacent shops — Jaiswal Electronics and Bhagwati Cloth House — causing partial damage to both establishments.

As soon as the fire broke out, local residents and shopkeepers rushed to the spot to help. The Nagar Panchayat water tanker was the first to reach the scene and began efforts to douse the fire.

Police immediately cordoned off the area to control the crowd and support firefighting operations. The Rural Superintendent of Police took details of the incident and instructed the fire department to send additional assistance.

The fire department deployed three large fire engines and one small unit. After nearly one and a half hours of intense effort, firefighters finally brought the blaze under control. The shop suffered losses worth lakhs, and significant structural damage occurred. A short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire.

Shop owner Satish Gupta said the blaze was so intense that there was no time to save any belongings. Even though nearby shopkeepers tried to help extinguish the flames, the fire kept growing stronger.
