Pakistan Captain Salman Ali Agha Explains Reasons Behind Defeat

After the loss, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha pointed out key reasons for the team’s poor performance.

“Our spinners did not have a good day. They weren’t at their best in certain areas. We trust our spinners—they have performed well over the last six months. During the powerplay, we lost too many wickets while batting. The pitch was tricky in the first innings and the ball was gripping well. Overall, our performance with the ball was not up to the mark,” Agha said.

Focus Shifts to Must-Win Next Match

Agha further added, “The pitch played better in the second innings compared to the first. Emotions run high in matches like these, and we need to handle that better. We’ve played many such games before. Our next match is in two days, and we must focus on that. We need to win it to qualify for the Super 8. After that, it will be like a new tournament.”

Pakistan Suffer First Defeat of T20 World Cup 2026

This was Pakistan’s first loss of the T20 World Cup 2026. They had previously won both of their matches—defeating the Netherlands by 3 wickets and the United States by 32 runs.

Pakistan will now face Namibia on Wednesday in a must-win encounter to keep their Super 8 hopes alive.

Meanwhile, India have completed a hat-trick of victories in the tournament. After wins against the USA and Namibia, this third consecutive victory has officially secured India’s place in the Super 8 stage.
