Ayodhya to Witness Flag Hoisting on Auxiliary Temple Spires on Ram Navami; Ceremony Scheduled for March 26, 2026

On the occasion of Ram Navami, flag hoisting will be carried out on the spires of the auxiliary temples in Ayodhya. The ceremonial event is scheduled for March 26, 2026, and will be accompanied by special religious programs across the holy city. A large number of devotees are expected to participate as Ayodhya prepares to celebrate Ram Navami with grandeur and devotion.

The hoisting of the religious flag (Dharma Dhwaja) atop the spires of all seven auxiliary temples within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex will now take place next year on Ram Navami. Earlier, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had planned to organize the flag hoisting during the second anniversary of the Ram Temple’s consecration, but preparations could not be completed, and construction work on the auxiliary temples also remains unfinished.

Although trust officials have refrained from making public statements, the issue has been discussed internally during meetings. The primary reason cited is the pending work related to the temple perimeter (Parikrama wall) and finishing tasks.

It is noteworthy that a flag hoisting ceremony was held on November 25 at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex to mark the completion of the main temple structure. On that occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the Dharma Dhwaja on the golden spire of the Ram Temple. However, due to various reasons, the Trust postponed the flag hoisting on the spires of the seven auxiliary temples—dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Surya Dev, Goddess Durga, Goddess Annapurna, Lord Hanuman, and Sheshavatar Lakshman.

The postponement was mainly due to unfinished work on the six deities’ temples along the perimeter, including finishing touches, cleanliness, landscaping, and green development. The construction agency Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is carrying out these tasks at a rapid pace, but since they involve detailed and delicate work, completion is taking time.

As a result, some work is still pending. During a Trust meeting held on December 13, Trust General Secretary Champat Rai indicated that flag hoisting might be possible on Pratishtha Dwadashi, though a separate action plan would be required. This led to speculation that the ceremony might be conducted on December 31, but according to sources, no concrete preparations were made.

Subsequently, discussions during preparation meetings suggested that Ram Navami would be a more suitable date for the ceremony. A Trust official confirmed that Ram Navami falls on March 26, 2026, leaving approximately three months for all remaining work to be completed. The Trust is now preparing to conduct the Dharma Dhwaja hoisting on that day, along with plans to begin public दर्शन (darshan) following the ceremony.
