UP Govt to Run 270 Buses for Major Magh Mela Bathing Days; 150 Buses to Operate Daily During Festival Period
To ensure smooth travel for pilgrims attending the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has begun preparations for large-scale transportation arrangements. Special emphasis has been given to the six major bathing festivals, along with regular travel needs throughout the Mela period.
270 Buses for Major Bathing Days
For every major bathing day, 270 buses will be deployed from Ayodhya region. These buses will operate two days before and one day after each major Snan Parv, ensuring uninterrupted travel for devotees heading to the Magh Mela.
Additionally, 150 buses will operate daily throughout the Mela duration to support general passenger movement.
Bus Operations from Multiple Points
UPSRTC has created nine operation points in Ayodhya region from which buses will be routed to the Jhunsi bus stop near the Mela venue in Prayagraj. The bus distribution from each point is as follows:
- Ayodhya – 70 buses
- Rajesultanpur – 40 buses
- Kamariyaghat, Sultanpur – 50 + 50 buses
- Tanda – 20 buses
- Kadipur–Chanda, Akbarpur, Amethi, Ramnagar – 10 buses each
Additional Bus Support on Special Days
On Makar Sankranti and Basant Panchami, 120 additional buses will run from Ayodhya Dham Bus Station to nearby districts, ensuring hassle-free pilgrim movement.
To handle unexpected demand:
- 20 buses will be kept in reserve in Ayodhya
- 20 buses will be kept in reserve in Prayagraj
Management & Preparations
- Assistant Regional Manager Kashi Prasad from Amethi depot has been appointed as Mela Officer.
- Regional Manager Vimal Rajan confirmed that all preparations for the Magh Mela have been completed.
Currently, Ayodhya region has a fleet of 491 buses, which is expected to increase to 500 by the Mela period, ensuring there will be no shortage of vehicles for passengers.
UPSRTC has assured that special attention will be given to both passenger comfort and smooth transportation arrangements.
